    The Basics of Gourmet Cooking is a beginning series of cooking classes perfect for 
cooks who are just starting out or would like to refresh their fundamentals.
The 8 week series of classes consists of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on-classes
 exploring a wide variety of culinary concepts. We teach classic French cooking technique
 which is the standard of the world.
    Mardi has designed this series of classes to teach you good, basic cooking skills.
We will learn, create, and enjoy a new menu each week, including a dessert of a different
fresh fruit each week, paired with a different cheese each week.

The series includes:
Session One: Knife Skills
Session Two: Chicken and Poultry
Session Three: Fish and Shellfish
Session Four: Meat
Session Five: Starches, Grains, and Vegetables
Session Six: Egg Cookery
Session Seven: Desserts

 Session Five:
Grains, and Greens

Location: Burden home near La Canada and Magee Road

  In session five of our series we will prepare some delicious food using multiple cooking techniques. Our menu consists of an appetizer of Espinaca con Queso, Greens and Cheese Enchiladas, Oven Baked Risotto, Quinoa salad, and Parmesan Roast vegetables over Creamy Polenta, and a Rustic Apple Tart for dessert.
Even the most carnivorous among us will come away happy from this one!

            
Session Six: Egg Cookery

Participation         Individual class            $79

Mardi Burden        SATURDAYS   1 PM - 4:30 PM

Location: Burden Home near La Canada and Magee Road

  In Session Six we will learn all about EGGS! We will prepare French
Soufflés (to die for) and Omelettes, and Italian Frittatas with Cherry Clafoutis
for dessert. We will also enjoy a Cheese Board with Crostata, and a Salad with French Vinaigrette

 

            
 

    
 
Session Seven: Desserts

   In our final session we will visit a world of decadence while we prepare some fantastic desserts. Our menu: Chocolate Soufflés, Cream Puffs with Whipped Cream, Cheesecake and Strawberry Coulis. All of these great dishes will wow
your guests and grow enhance skills for more wonderful cooking in the future.
